Oakwood Activity Leader – Cookery

 

Our daytime service, Oakwood activities, offer a wide range of activities to adults with learning disabilities. Our broad range informal learning opportunities help individuals learn new skills, gain structure to their week and meet new people. We are dedicated to providing individuals with an inspiring environment in which to develop confidence and independence.

We are seeking an Activity Leader to run our cookery group. As an Activity Leader you will work as part of a team providing the highest standards of support to service users accessing the Oakwood Service, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect so that they can live a full and meaningful life.

You will be required to work collaboratively with service users and facilitate cookery sessions, considering the needs of everyone in the group. A friendly and approachable manner is needed. A keen interest in nutrition and meal preparation and a wide range of kitchen skills is also essential.

Principal responsibilities include:

  • Providing a creative, stimulating, educational and enjoyable environment for all service users.
  • Planning daily activities that consider individual needs and interests and day to day service delivery that maximises service user’s involvement and development.
  • Giving clear instructions to service users, support staff and volunteers.
  • Supporting service users in their chosen activity.
  • Completing support plans for all service users.
  • Ensuring all materials and equipment are readily available for each session.
  • Informing the Day Services Management team of any planned expenditure.
  • Completing all necessary documentation accurately and in accordance with the Trust’s procedures.
  • Being aware of service users dietary and medication requirements as identified in their support plans and risk assessments.
  • Reviewing all risk assessments and information to keep them current, relevant, complete, and updated.
  • Obtaining regular feedback from service users and facilitating any actions identified.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment which complies with Health and Safety requirements.

Rates of pay:

Salary £11.67 per hour

Hours:

32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm
