Rossendale Trust’s Oakwood Activities Music Group Wows Audience with Shrek the Musical
The stage came alive recently as the talented members of Rossendale Trust’s Oakwood activities music group performed Shrek the Musical to a delighted live audience. The performance at Sutton Scout Hut celebrated Oakwood and served as a fitting finale, showcasing the group’s dedication and months of hard work.
The cast brought the magical world of Shrek to life, complete with colourful costumes, amazing acting, and toe-tapping musical numbers. The audience, made up of family, friends, and supporters of the Rossendale Trust, were treated to a memorable evening filled with laughter and applause. It was such a fantastic show. The performers gave their all, and it really shone through.
The production was a huge achievement for the Oakwood activities group, which offers individuals with learning disabilities the opportunity to explore their talents and build confidence through creative pursuits. The group rehearsed tirelessly for many months, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and staff.
“We are incredibly proud of what the group has accomplished,” said Jason Blythe, manager of Oakwood activities. “Performing live in front of an audience is no small feat, and the cast delivered a performance that was both professional and full of heart. Events like this highlight the importance of our activity groups and the creativity and inclusion that they inspire.”
Staff have worked tirelessly to make this production a success and we thank all the staff involved in helping the cast prepare for the show. Thank you also to the local community who came out to support the event.
We are already looking ahead to our next musical endeavour and can’t wait to get back to rehearsals!
