Trustee Announces Retirement after 40 Years of Service
Moira Beswick, Chair of Trustees at the Trust, has announced her retirement after 40 years of dedicated service to the community. Moira’s tenure as Chair of the Trust spans 12 years, during which she utilized her managerial and HR skillsets acquired during her time working in senior management at ICI/Astra Zeneca.
Moira’s commitment over the years has played a significant role in rebuilding the Trust to it’s current position of strength where we now employ over 200 staff, who provide much needed support and services to adults with learning disabilities and complex care needs in our local area.
Under Moira’s leadership, the Rossendale Trust has achieved a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with aspirations to now reach the Outstanding milestone.
Macclesfield MP and Patron of the Trust, David Rutley, has paid tribute to Moira’s service, “Moira has been part of the fabric at the Rossendale Trust for decades. Her commitment and dedicated service were ever present during her 12 years serving as Chair of Trustees. Moira has always put the needs of tenants first and she should be rightly proud of all that the team has achieved under her leadership. We are all very grateful for her hard work over many years and her amazing example”.
Moira’s successor has been confirmed as Adam Schofield, a former town councillor and Mayor of Macclesfield. Adam is looking forward to leading the Trust into the future and working with the Board and management team to continue in taking the Trust forward.
In recognition of Moira’s retirement, the Trust’s Board, at their annual AGM, granted her the title of honorary President.
Steve Nichols, the Trust’s CEO, expressed his gratitude for Moira’s long -standing service. “Moira’s commitment to the Trust has been unwavering and is a testament to her character. Moira has voluntarily given her time to support us to provide the best possible care for the people who use our services. It has been a pleasure to work alongside Moira during my time as Chief Executive. Everyone here at the Trust wishes her a fulfilling and well-deserved retirement.”
Moira’s commitment to community services has also been honoured by the Macclesfield Castle Rotary Club, with the prestigious international award, The Paul Harris Fellowship. Moira is also a past recipient of the Mayor of Macclesfield’s Pride of Macclesfield Award.
