Mamma Mia
Mamma Mia …. Here we finally go again!!
In January 2020 the Oakwood music group decided they were going to practice and perform the ABBA based musical, Mamma Mia as their next production (due to be staged in December 2020).
The small matter of the global COVID-19 pandemic put a rather large spanner in the works but the determination of the group to stage this performance remained. So we move forward to January 2022 when rehearsals recommenced. Through much hard work and dedication, the group have been practising like mad this year and finally, after 3 years without a production, we returned to the United Reformed Church in Macclesfield to entertain family and friends once again!
The evening was a huge success, ending with a raucous standing ovation for the cast and crew. The performance was not without its struggles, with illness tearing through the cast the week leading up to the show, resulting in 10 different members unable to make it on the night. But never a group to give up we all pulled together and put on a show to remember. One audience member commented “Just to say what a fabulous night the concert was. Despite losing so many of your participants it was an absolute pleasure to sing along with everyone. A lovely evening – just perfect.”
