Having started her career in HR at police Headquarters in Chester Moira moved to Macclesfield and continued her career with ICI/AstraZeneca. After 34 years (of which 22 years was as Facilities Manager) she was not ready to retire so she worked at Macclesfield Hospital for 4 years and then 3.5 years for The Rossendale Trust. A close friend of Moira’s introduced her to Rossendale some 20 years ago getting her involved in PR & FR. For the last 14 years she has also been a member of the Trustee Board. She was appointed Chairman of the Trust in July, 2013 and continues to be very passionate and proud about what the Trust provides.
Maggie has been involved with the Residents, now Tenants of the Rossendale Trust for about 22 years, firstly through her work at Macclesfield College, and later as an advocate for East Cheshire Advocacy. The ECA at this time became very involved in the transition from Residential care to Supported Living. Maggie says “Since retiring I have remained actively involved with one tenant and then I decided put myself forward to become a Trustee early in 2013, a role I am enjoying as I feel much more a part of The Rossendale Story now.”
Mike has been a Trustee since 2012. His son Paul moved into Rose Gardens the year before, during which time Mike was involved in running a parents’ group. He works in IT, at Fujitsu in Manchester, and has utilised his expertise for Rossendale by writing the 100 Club number generator. Mike is an elder/trustee at Tytherington Family Worship church in Macclesfield. In his spare time he plays guitar and drums, including a long-standing visit to Rossendale each Christmas. He is married to Julie, and has three other children and two grandchildren.
Michael became involved with Rossendale in a voluntary capacity about 30 years ago when his sister-in-law, Suzanne became a resident. He has been a Trustee for 18 years, seven of which were in the position of Chairman. He was involved in the Trust’s move away from residential care into Supported Living.
Marion has been interested and involved with disability organisations in both a personal and professional capacity for over 40 years. She worked in the voluntary sector for 14 years , following which she worked for 25 years as a Manager of Social Care Provider Services for Cheshire County Council and Cheshire East Council. During this time she was responsible for managing services and staff in Residential, Support Living, Home Care and Day Services. After retiring in 2011 she became a Board Member of Healthwatch Cheshire East, and a member of the Board of Trustees at both the Rossendale Trust and the Disability Information Bureau.
Tony was appointed as a Trustee in April 2014. Having worked with a various major consultancy and project delivery organisations in the commercial/private sector Tony brings governance and project management skills to the Trust. He has lived in Macclesfield for over 25 years and is married with two sons.
Andrew was appointed a Trustee in March 2014 having been approached to take the post by Tom Couper, Head of Finance. He has spent the majority of his career in finance in the private hospital industry having worked for BMI Healthcare, Nuffield Hospitals and was involved in the management buy in of Classic Hospitals from BUPA. He is originally from Kent and moved to Macclesfield fifteen years ago as a result of a job move. He is looking forward to being involved with the continued growth of the Trust.
A local lad from Macclesfield, Simon obtained a degree in Media Studies with Business Management from the University before going on to study law at Staffordshire University and becoming a partner at Linder Myers LLP, Manchester. In his spare time Simon enjoys cricket and supporting Macclesfield Town Football Club.
David was appointed as a Trustee in November 2017. He first became involved with Rossendale when it was the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year in 2016. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber. David came to the North West nearly 40 years ago when he became employed by one of the many textile companies in the area at that time. He later went on to form his own business with manufacturing facilities both locally and overseas. He lives in Congleton and is married to Diane and has a daughter, Karen.
Neil has been a Trustee since January 2018. Neil had a 30 year career as a Chemical Engineer & Project Manager with ICI/Zeneca/AstraZeneca working in the agricultural, agrochemical, biological, food and pharmaceutical sectors. He specialised in plant operations, systems development, information management and latterly process and supply chain optimisation using Lean Manufacturing principles. Neil is a ‘problem solver’ and loves the challenge of finding new ways to make things better. Neil took the opportunity for ‘early retirement’ in 2010 and is now an active school governor at a local primary school and also qualified run leader with Macclesfield Harriers and he is still using his problem solving skills. When possible Neil will be found running around the local hills finding new routes to use for group runs.
Steve was formally appointed to the role of Chief Executive in June 2013. He was previously a Trustee from 2001 and more recently Vice Chairman of the Trust. He is also currently Vice Chairman of the Buckinghamshire Building Society and has held a number of senior positions in the financial services sector. Steve regards his role at Rossendale as a privilege to be able work with the tenants, staff and management on a daily basis. He lives in Leek, Staffordshire.
Andy started work as a volunteer at Rossendale in 2005, and has subsequently worked on the Oakwood project, and in all of the units as a care support worker and an officer in charge. In January 2009 he was appointed Registered Home Manager at Rossendale Hall, and is now promoted to Head of Care and Supported Living Services. He lives in nearby Langley.
Sue joined the Trust in 2011 and has developed her position from that of an Administrative role through to the Head of PR and Fundraising, growing her team and department along the way. Sue brings a creative spark and a wide reaching knowledge of fundraising and event organising to the job. She enjoys developing and nurturing projects to successful fundraising outcomes that benefit and support the individuals we care for.
Tom Couper joined the Trust in March 2011 as Operational Accountant having previously worked on the finance/administrative side of the healthcare industry with Westminster Healthcare (Nursing Homes) and Cheadle Royal Hospital, (Private Psychiatric).Since joining the Trust Tom has now been made Head of Finance. Tom was born and educated in Scotland before moving to Cheshire with his family in 1988.
Jan joined the Trust in 2012. She brought a broad range of HR management skills and experience to the organisation, having previously worked as a HR Manager in commercial and public sector organisations, including professional services and education. She enjoys the variety of her role within the Trust and being part of a progressive management team. Jan is a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
Simon joined the Trust in October 2011 having spent 25 years working in the textile industry. His most recent position was as Quality Manager at Velcro Limited the UK branch of the famous touch and close fastener manufacturer. Prior to that he spent 15 years working for Selectus Limited in Biddulph in various roles including Shipping Clerk, Customer Service Manager and Technical Support Manager. Simon is a Chartered Member of the CQI and also holds a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
Louise joined the Trust in August 1999 as a care officer and since then has had various roles at Rossendale. Her current appointment involves monitoring and maintaining compliance and quality throughout the Trust.
Andrea brings with her a broad range of experience in adult social care having worked for Cheshire East and in the private sector, gaining experience in managing services in supported living, day care, older people and specialist dementia care, domiciliary care and respite care. Andrea’s heart has always belonged with learning disability though which is where she started out as a care and support worker.
Jason joined the trust in January 2003 as a support worker and was promoted to the position of Oakwood Team Leader in September 2007. Jason is now Operations Manager of Oakwood.
