A marathon of a challenge
The 2018 London Marathon was officially the hottest on record but that didn’t prevent our five Rossendale runners from successfully crossing the finish lane on Sunday. While the sun was beating down, Josh, Graham, Mark, Toby & MaryAnn were pounding the streets determined to complete the gruelling 26.2 miles.
This year’s team were a mixture of marathon newcomers and veteran runners. Toby completed his 13th London Marathon and once again found his own unique costume to run in. Whilst Mark came to the end of a 3 week challenge to complete three marathons in three weeks, Josh, Graham and MaryAnn all completed their first London Marathon for The Rossendale Trust.
Mark said “London capped a fantastic three weekends in which I ran three marathons: Manchester, Brighton and London …… It was very hard and I was exhausted by the end, but it was worth it.”
We couldn’t be more proud of the team, who were supported on route by tenants and staff from the Trust. Trevor, a tenant at the Trust and keen sports fan, thoroughly enjoyed his visit to the capital. “It was the best experience …. I can’t believe I was watching the race”
Between them our runners have raised over £10,000 for our WorkTaste scheme and donations are still coming in! Thank you to each and every one of you and to everyone that has supported them along their marathon journeys. The money raised really will make a difference to the lives of the people that we support.
