A recording breaking, fundraising fete success
Rossendale Summer Fete always succeeds in being one of the great family days of the year, and this year, by raising a record £10,500 for the Trust, it was a huge financial success too!
Over 1,000 friends, families, tenants and staff enjoyed all of the traditional pleasures: cream teas; a huge prize raffle; beer tent; barbecue; ice creams; live music, plus many stalls and attractions. This year Andy Caesar (Head of Care at the Trust) added extra reason to attend by inviting guests to play ‘Egg Roulette’ on his head. Guests revelled in the chance to play. Andy said, ‘It was great fun, but messy! The crowds loved it. For some reason people enjoyed smashing eggs on my head!’
The fete is also the day of the year when all of the fiends and supporters of the Trust gather in the gardens at Rossendale Hall and catch up on the news – this year sitting in blazing sunshine.
Sue Heaven said, ‘it was wonderful seeing so many people coming to support the Trust. The money raised will be used to directly help the tenants in so many ways. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make it such a great day, including local businesses and so many volunteers…..we simply could not have done it without you”
The funds raised will be used to boost the tenants’ activity fund, enabling the people cared for by the Trust to live more independently, as part of the community around them.
