Oakwood at the Rossendale Trust

Oakwood is a day time service which offers a wide range of activities to adults with learning disabilities. An integral part of the Rossendale Trust, Oakwood aims to support every individual to reach their full potential by offering choice and the opportunity to achieve positive outcomes within an environment which encourages social interaction and integration into the local community.

Oakwood is used not only by tenants of Rossendale, but also by the wider community who enjoy taking part in our activity programme. There is a broad range of activities and informal learning opportunities to choose from helping individuals learn new skills, gain structure to their week and meet new people. Dedicated to providing individuals with an inspiring environment in which to develop confidence and independence, Oakwood offers a modern, person centred service which is worlds away from the more ‘traditional’ day services!

Funding

Oakwood sessions are mostly funded by the local authority, alternatively they can be purchased through direct payments or privately. To enable us to offer such a varied range of things to do, we rely on money from all our fundraising efforts! Each year we have a programme of fundraising events which enables us to purchase new equipment and supplies to greatly improve the experience for everyone at the service.

Activity Timetable

Our range of activities are arranged in four month blocks so anyone wanting to attend simply chooses the ones they wish to take part in and then we provide you with a timetable for that four month period.

Individual activities take place in half day sessions:

Morning session 9.00am – 12.00 noon
Afternoon session 1.00pm – 4.00pm

Some of our activities are full days 9am-4pm.

Hannah’s Story

Without the opportunity and supportive environment of Oakwood’s activity program, Hannah, like many others, would be socially isolated.

Hanging Baskets

Orders are now being taken for our summer hanging baskets, planted and nurtured by our Oakwood horticulture group. All proceeds from the sale of our baskets support Oakwood activities.
